Who Raised Ya?
Is our country and society finished being GREAT?
Or as Granny would say, "Are we just going through a phase?"
Who taught us to degrade, attack, judge, injure and harm each other?
An interesting thing was said to me recently. A man told me "We make lots money off of criminals" To me that is a very scary statement, I don't really know why. Maybe some small tidbit of information in my mind from history. Or the facts of the recent history of WW2 and other such regimes that caused extreme harm and even deaths to millions of people.
Minutes before he said that I watched as a group of children were ran-off from a playground by an authority figure for making too much noise. What have we become that we can't even tolerate the sounds of young life anymore. And I wondered what the children are supposed to do? Live quietly in closets until they turn 18 to then be turned out.
I sometimes wonder if the more enterprising of people that "make money off of criminals" won't at some point actually teach, trick or force a certain segment or part of our society to play the roll of the criminal and pay every cent they make as "punishment", so that those that "make money off of criminals" can have nice homes and such as they rotate the less fortunate through the system in concrete and steel boxes instead of being taught how to become positive members of our society.
Have we become that hopeless? As we read the newspapers and watch TV we hear that our infrastructure, roads etc. is becoming equal to that of third world nations. Jobs are hard to come by, pay scales are dwindling in every aspect of our society except government workers, contractors and sub-contractors.
We pay taxes yet we see almost nothing in return and at the same time when we need to file a form or even want to hang a sign some government official wants more money in fees for the form or whatever.
Just as Adam Smith warned us in Wealth of Nations written in the 1500's Our Government is big and getting bigger..excerpt from the Heartland Institute:
The nation's 16 million state and local government workers form a large, growing, and well-compensated class in society. State and local workers earned $36 per hour in wages and benefits in 2005, on average, compared to $24 per hour for U.S. private-sector workers, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' Employer Costs for Employee Compensation Summary, published December 9, 2005.
Government workers also have more than four times the level of union representation. Unions represented 9 percent of private-sector workers and more than 40 percent of state and local workers, according to the Bureau report. http://www.heartland.org/Article.cfm?artId=18746
Add to this the disregard or at least the watering down of our US Constitution and Bill of Rights by some of our "Public Servants". War's that 70% of the American Citizens don't want us in. At a time in history when the public has more access to the real access to information about everything from medicine, to politics. Gas prices doubling to the benefit of very few. The result of all of these things is the removal of the right for the American Citizen to enjoy their lives and enjoy being part of a nation that plays a leadership role in the world.
IS our government, who's role is supposed to be that of administrator's of our society, becoming the rulers of our society? Considering that we have some of the most brilliant thinkers in the world, why has brutality and bully tactics replaced intellect as the representation of America to the world. Why do we have to bribe nations to be our friends?
We now have the ability to share information and communicate with each other now more than any other time in history. Let's not back down from these challenges, we are a great nation.
Maybe if we stop preying on our fellow citizens we can turn this all around!
